The founder

Lebaraka Laizer is the Director of the Maasai Pastoralists Development Organization (MPDO), a community-based organization dedicated to improving the livelihoods, education, and resilience of Maasai pastoralist communities. He is also the Founder of Lareto Cooperative, a local NGO that provides revolving funds for women in the Mswakini and Makuyuni areas, empowering them through access to financial resources for small-scale enterprises.

Under his leadership, Lareto Cooperative has also championed renewable energy initiatives for schools, promoting sustainable and affordable energy solutions to enhance learning environments in rural communities.

Lebaraka’s work reflects a deep commitment to community empowerment, gender equity, and sustainable development among Maasai communities in northern Tanzania.

who we are

Lareto Pre-Cooperative is non-profit community based Organization (CB0) formed

since 2015 and registered 27h January 2016 under the provisions of section 38 and 39

of the Cooperative societies Act (No 6) of 2013. The headquarters are based in

Makuyuni village, but having its communication office in Arusha City. Lareto Pre-

Cooperative was formed to with the objective of facilitating community development

initiatives through capacity building and awareness creation in all sectors of

development. The area of operation currently being in Monduli district are Lemooti

and Mswakini wards with all the villages within the wards. The community based

Organization was formed after the realization that the Pastoral Community especially

in Monduli district are lagging behind in all aspects of development when compared

to other ethnic groups in Tanzania as well as in this modernized world. Lareto Pre-

Cooperative is supporting communities for social business, renewable energy and

entrepreneurship groups for development projects within the pastoral community.
